4 years after we first posted a DJ Nappy thugstep mix, we have a brand new mix for you. If you’ve been following along lately no one has posted in months here, so it seems appropriate that the last post ever is a mixtape called Snuff. After nearly 6 years we’re putting the snuff on this site. It’s been an incredible six years. Thank you to everyone that has shared it with us. Come to Mad Decent Monday tonight with DJ Nappy, Dr. Ew, Buddy Leezle and residents Qi, Command, Suga Shay and Tim Dolla. It’s $3 with $1 PBRs until midnight. RSVP on Facebook.

From DJ A to Derek Allen the in house Mad Decent producer, sound technician, graphic designer, studio magic maker is shedding the old school DJ moniker as he grabs the mic and drops some heavy vocals on this Top Billin production taken fromLuvstep 2. Is it to early to make another Luvstep 2 post? Nahhh not when its Dereck coming out the box and dropping some fire. Hope to see some more production and singing from this guy soon!
Last call for RSVPs at Tropicalismo: Carnival Edition with Poirier, Alex Shaw + Eduardo Santos, carnival dancer, and now live capoeira!
Here is my favorite Poirier video — from his previous album, No Ground Under, but the combination of hockey + hot gyals + Stanley Cup + champagne + Coach Ghislain is still the best. In my fantasies, that’s what life in Montreal is always like.
DSJ and Senior Fluffy have done it again. Teaming up this Feb to drop another mix to show your girl friend that Dubstep isn’t all about chainsaw rhythms and spacey shuffle step. Its more about the sensitive blips and romantic bleeps that keep you jerking your body back and forth that just make you fall in love with this music again and again. If your on the East Coast or Kentucky or Indiana go check these dudes out on tour as they celebrate the release. This will also give you ample opportunity to open up a conversation with a cute girl in skinny tight jeans, paisley blouse, oversized rain coat, and glasses with no rims in them about the evolution of dubstep and future garage and how you are so glade that dj’s are playing tunes these days that girls can really relate to and open up there hearts to. Chicks will eat that shit up.
Just saw this over at the Guardian that Pocketknife (from Tambo D fame) has a new Arthur Russel mix up to celebrate the release of Arthur’s Landing, a compilation on Strut Records (K7!). Nice little relaxing mix that spans lots of different parts of Russel’s career from the avant jazz, experimental minimalism classical and of course disco.

You may have noticed that there have been few posts as of late. I’m stepping back a bit from posting all the time. I’m still active on Twitter and Facebook, but don’t have as much time any more for the blog.
