Holla! Can't wait for tonight. It's about to be on. Also, got a project brewing that is about to be huge and can't wait to announce it on Monday, maybe Tuesday. Also, I promise I'll post more than videos next week. I felt like I was turning this into a vlog, but I'd rather post content than nothing at all. Speaking of which, I'm still trying to track down a new source for the Bangers and Cash - Loose video, I knew I should have grabbed it while it was up. Anybody else notice how we got kind of dirty in a good way though. By the way, got any sordid tales from a late night jumpoff? Maybe how you met your side jawn? I'm talking Penthouse letters, not Harlequin Romance. Send it to me with names changed, and I'll post your tail tale.

Yo, its like actual October outside. Had to bust out the sweater today and I need to get my jacket time right for fall. Thankfully though, there are plenty of places to get sweaty in the next two weeks starting tonight with Digitalism. Woohooo! (I never remember how to spell that, is there an h after the W?) Also Faerie Con is here all weekend, I'm not sure whether to be excited or scared. For example the pic in that link makes me scared but Tinkerbell, on the other hand. I used to have a crush on this girl who would call me Peter and I would call her Tink.

What It Do: Friday the 13th

Holla! Friday the 13th. My favorite day. Since its out of the ordinary day, I'm going to do something out of the ordinary, I'm going to plug 2 parties in NYC. As much as I love Philly and rep it all day, every day, some things only happen in NYC. Which is another awesome reason to love Philly. Its only a 2 hour chinatown bus ride away, I don't know its like being in the sixth borough. Hahahaha...

What It Do : First Friday

So last night, Plastic Little absolutely killed it. Si Young got the crowd bouncing and was a welcomed addition from seeing them perform with an iPod. MC Spankrock made a special guest appearance jumping on stage for Cramboida and Now I Holler. From there I had to check out Brendan and Dan at Bamboo for the weekly Paperstreet/Simplefly jumpoff. Swede was on point with the reggae downstairs. Meanwhile, for the last half hour Brendan was in the zone. I swear he ran 50 hip hop classics in like 30 minutes. Just as I was really getting into C.R.E.A.M. or Top Billing or Luchini he would cut it into something else. Hands down, the best DJ in the city. Plus there is just so many major moves for his Deuce Deuce label. Enough of yesterday lets get into this weekend.

What it Do: Your Weekend Guide

First off, I was listening to DMX earlier on Semtex Saturday Night Mixtape and I really want to hear the dog back on. If when people say to bring back NY hip hop it has to do with DMX I wholeheartedly agree. Second, I knew that the Thursday night party at Bamboo hot with Brendan and now Dan the Swede spinning, but for real this place is dope. Brendan spinning up stairs, Dan downstairs and an outside area to chill and holler at jawns and smoke and talk business and fun and whatever else you do at the club. Holla back.

What It Do: Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th! Yeah, my favorite day of the year. I have always found superstitious tales like this one funny. 13 has always has been my favorite number. Friday the 13th the best day(s) of the year. I always wanted a black cat which I now have. So far I think I've gotten nothing but good luck from all of these. I do have to admit that I absolutely hate watching scary movies. Friday the 13th included. If you need a reason to wile out, then blame it on this. Or you could just rest up as there are 3 different parties going all nite. Now only if it was a full moon too...

Getting updates from Jay Simplefly and Tommy Up partying on a yacht in Miami saying how much fun they're having eating chicken satay and empanadas while DJ Haul spins and Jazzy Jeff is up next. I'm not mad, its cool. I was just outside without a jacket and it wasn't really that rainy. Oh and at first I didn't think anything was going on, right about now I can't keep up. What it Do: Kiss Me I'm Irish

WTF is up with this weather? 70 2 days ago and this ice/rain/snow mix now??? Spring is coming soon, spring is coming soon. Saturday is going to be off the hook regardless. Being Irish myself, St. Patricks day is great. Everybody wishing they were. Philly actually has the largest population of Irish descendants in the country. But please, please, please no green beer. Green beer is not Irish, I find it disrepectful, we make quality beer, Guinness, Smithwicks, Murphys, Beamish etc. Pouring food coloring in your Bud Lite still means you have shitty beer, its not Irish. If you pour Jameson in it, instead I might forgive you, but probably not because you're now spoiling your whiskey. [/rant]

  • Hands and Knees - week in and week out, free sparks and pbr early, Jhn Rdn, Ian St. Laurent - M Room (Frankford & Girard)

Saturday
  • Erin Express - I know, its still fun though. Plus its a reason to drink during the day.
  • Grasshopper 1 day sale - Prefer shopping over drinking? At least 20% off everything (727 Walnut)
  • Caps & Jones & Emynd & Bo Bliz at M Room with KMass - (Front & Girard)

    • The Vacuum is a two story building in the Fishtown area with an enclosed courtyard and a spacious, conceptually constructed interior that can provide two rooms of (newly upgraded) sofund, and a third outside area weather permitting. This is our lasting home, where the imaginings of f(x) event conception approach full realization and the heart and soul of the project will be spoken and heard with vivid clarity.

Beats, check 'em out. Still recovering from last weekend, need some more Vitamin C. Will post crazy amounts of pictures by Monday, promise.

Friday
  • Until gone - %50 off sale at Pedestrian (252 South Street) on select brands.
  • EDIT:Philebrity reminded about an art opening tonight at ICA called "Locally Localized" featuring local galleries like Space 1026, Black Floor and more. Check this, its incredible.
  • Girl Talk at Johny Brendas with Plastic Little - Last time he played here was a random house party in South Philly. This time he gets written up in the Inquirer and the Philly Weekly. Needless to say tickets are sold out, I looked on Craigslist and there are only wanted tickets. When I saw him in LA, I found it to be a pretty good show seeing as he is just clicking on his computer every few minutes. First he brings all the girls on stage and then proceeds to jump around taking his shirt off waving it around like a helicopter. Just don't bother trying to pick out every sample he uses or your brain will overheat. Oh and maybe, just maybe you will be able to win tickets from Philebrity & R5 by 4:30. (I'm sure snarky emails will be rewarded)
  • Cage and friends at the Church (btw, if you haven't noticed Cage switched his style up and got signed to def jux)
  • Hands & Knees - Sparks fueled hipsters dance to Jhn Rdn and friends
  • AJ Ready Wright at 700 club cause who doesn't like 700?
  • Rave on with Double Vision and Unbirthday
  • Oh and BobSaget at the Tower Theater, have you seen the Aristocrats?
Saturday
  • Beats and Rhymes - Reef the Lost Cause on the mic with all of his producers squaring off against one another. That bol emynd is in the competition so root for him.

What it Do: November First Friday

Hipster tendencie are really seeming to come out as I was torn between going to the Clipse and then to Making Time for Justice. Luckily, the Clipse have been rescheduled for December. I really just want to see Justice but seeing as there are a whole snapload of ironically cool bands, I think I'm going to bite the bullet. I'll totally make up for it somehow, hmmm...

Tonight there is an open bar from 10 - 11 but there are only a handful of spots left. Get on the half price/open bar guestlist now.
