Oh noes! 2008 Philly BBoy BBQ Cancelled

The 2008 Philly BBoy BBQ has been canceled due to too much vandalism.
We received some sad news earlier this week that the B-Boy BBQ is going on a short hiatus and will NOT be happening this year. So yes, it is canceled! Mainly due to the uncontrollable amounts of vandalism that was occurring in the playground and to the surrounding neighborhood area. We will keep you up to date about a new venue as soon as we & the organizers find one.
Hmm, so does that mean it was canceled due to graffiti?
Head over 215HipHop to see pictures from years past.

New Mickey Factz video and track
Mickey freestylin to a Precize beat with shout outs to Different Kitchen and Nah Right.
From Mickey
2nd week of Volume 2 and I have a crazy track right here. Competition at its best. When you put 6 lyricists in 1 room and throw a beat on, there's no telling what might happen. And this is no different to that statement. This track was very competitive in the sense that people re-wrote verses, some of us took inside shots at each other, we even told one dude his verse was straight garbage. All in all, its up to the people to decide who had the standout swag, best flow and illest verse. So once again, I present to the people: Jumanji!Mickey Factz - Jumanji feat Nakim, Nymesis, Charlie Clips, Smoke Dza, Curtains

Kidz in the Hall - Driving Down the Block
I'm really feeling this song. A fun banger to roll through summer with the windows down sort of track. Sadly nothing else I've heard is anything like this at all. This reminds me of fellow Chicagoans Cool Kids - Black Mags (peddlin down the block...).

Young Envy - I Like Her
Another new track from Atlanta, this time from 18 year old Young Envy. Envy appears to be the next to blow up out of Atlanta with what appears to be an imminent deal with So So Def. Expect big things from the kid in '08.Young Envy on MySpace
J Rizzle - Hello feat Spyder
New A town banger from J Rizzle - Hello featuring Spyder. I absolutely love this song. Almost has a trance hop feel with a real heavy synth minimal beat. First two verses are by my favorite although the third is growing on me. Compared to the other 4 songs on his MySpace this is such a departure and a good one at that. Sit So High has potential, as long as you can get through the first grating verse, the second is better and the third is much better.J Rizzle on MySpace

I love this track so much. I think its mostly the hook. Gillie's flow is nice though. All around banger. DJ's please play this if you play any rap music at all. What up Germantown? I see you. So is Gillie the King of Philly? Beanie doesn't want it. Cassidy asks "How is Gillie the King when he don't even have a single out? Gillie gets a little mad and runs up in Cassidys old neighborhood. Where as all yall were hoping to see booties in B.O.O.T.A.Y. and it was entirely too wholesome, the gang made up for it with this one. Favorite comment so far "wow,i've never seen a porn music video this is amazing." Think Spank Rock invading a porn shoot and rapping with lots of champagne. Throwback Fridays - Chessboxin
The Wu post I did yesterday got me digging out 36 Chambers. Also anyone have that computer game back in the day where they would actually fight when you took a piece? I think it was called Battle Chess or something like that? I loved that, I wonder if there is a newer version.
UPDATE: I found it! I'm going to download this now.

Dexterous Or Crafty In The Use Of Words

Cunninlynguists is not only a sexual innuendo but a really dope southern Hip Hop group. They have evolved from playful childish wordy tricksters to certifiable southern soulful artists. Deacon the Villain and Natti handle the MCin and touch on heartfelt topics well-suited to the Kno's emotional production style.
They got a new album coming out called Dirty Acres (you can pre-order it here with the instrumentals included.)
Check out a tune featuring ever-entertaining Devin The Dude on their myspace page
Download their tune "Mexico" below.

What is this I SEE?
IAMISEE is Philly based MC I slept on at first but something inside me drug me to peep his new song "Danger Stranger." His flow and voice are a cross between MF Doom and Aesop Rock with some throwback MC Hammer stylings. Ok not so much on the MC Hammer. Shit is still fire.Legend has it he does a lot of his own production too. Double threat guy!
