Say Wut - Keep Rockin Digi EP Out Now

Super producer NSW aka Say Wut has just released a bangin record on the home of Baltimore Club music Unruly Records
Few producers have dominated Baltimore club music in recent years more than Say-Wut. And those who have, namely Rod Lee and Blaq Starr, have distinctive voices to rely on as their trademarks. Say-Wut, on the other hand, has become ubiquitous with a less immediately identifiable sound that's defined, more often than not, by his tracks' high energy and blaring volume.

Scottie B Dj Class Malmo Sweden

If you don't know about Unruly Records and Scottie B yet then please go visit them. Pretty much the best Baltimore Club record label out there right now and pretty much inspired me to do what I am doing over at Flamin Hotz.

But probably my favorite producer that came out on Unruly has got to be DJ Class. This is the dude that is just behind a whole bunch of my favorite tracks. Tear The Club Up, Bombing Head, Stop Snitchin, Do It Girl

If you can find this ep buy it on site for this shit...

I know you wanna leave me
But I refuse to let you go
when you on the bed with me,
you been pleasing me
but there is something else that i need
I need some bombing head
Sweat baby and I won't leave you girl
won't let you go...

I don't have a myspace for Dj Class yet but when I get it you should add him

DJ Sega - Rockstars vs Clubheadz

Oh snap, it's here! Volume 2 in the 5151 Mix Series features DJ Sega with his mixtape Rockstars vs Clubheadz. The first half of the mix is all rockstar remixes like Bodies on the Floor, Last Resort, Party Like a Rockstar and more. The second half is all that club ish, like I Get Money, Money in the Bank, Buy You a Drink and more (full tracklisting). This is some next level ish. When I finally saw the front design I bugged out. You can't see it very well in the above pic, but blue Sonic the clubhead is wearing candy bracelets and has glowsticks (Get a better view here). So ill.

Since the streets are asking, I've set a handful aside that you can buy directly from me. They just went off to the distributor so they should be in stores real soon like. If you're in Philly, stop by Pedestrian and pick one up there. Otherwise, holla at me. Each of the first sent out will be $7 with $2 shipping to US & Canada only. Email me at 5151List [at] gmail for rates to other countries. Guess you slept on this. It will be out real soon like

I am just so happy to have Baltimore Club in my Life

Last post of Mix Tape Month bitches so hope every one has enjoyed the free shit. I think next month might be free Indy Rock CD month of hell. We will see.

So last post gotta give away some shit I worked on myself right. This is the first 5151 mix series CD that me and Di1 repacked for the man Benja Styles and have been getting it out on a national level. Second mix will be out in December featuring the one and old D DJ J Sega, whassupp mang. Baltimore Club Music Vol 1 is one of the hardest hitting Baltimore Club mixs that I own that just covers all of the classics and runs the gammut of the best shit. If you need an intro to non internet Baltimore club this is it. No Cousin Cole, no Bird Peterson, No Rub dudes, No Titsworth, no second wavers, just straight up old school heads like Scotti B, King Tut, Rod Lee, Dj Mook, Dj Ice, Dj Class (still my fav bmore producer), Boo Man, Kw Griff (how is your import repress record sold out again at TTL, i need that footstompin), and the man Dj Technics. (insiders tip, I am pretty sure that Dj Technics sold his back tracks to a record presser in the UK so you should see a lot of his back tracks coming out soon, including shit by Griff and Jimmy Jones, pretty exciting for you vinyl heads.)

So this summer I was going over to Dwizz’s house in South Philly and just walking down the streets in his neighborhood you could hear this mix every where. Shit was just blastin from block parties to peoples cars and out of peoples houses, that’s when I decided to press it for a wider audience. I just want to share my love of Baltimore Club Music. I mean shit is blowing up but more and more people need to hear this shit. It’s the dopest shit in the world.

Anyways I have no really good stories about this mix except it might have been playing when we got pulled over by the Maryland State Police this summer. But that’s on some other shit.

Email 5151List [at] Gmail with subject "You can't wu tang better than me" if you want this in your life. These kids kill it:

Mix Tape Month Ghettotek Mixing With Detriots Dj Surgeon

Missed a week so you might see two posts like whoa whoa whoa whoa...

So like earlier this year I went to this warehouse party off of Delaware avenue and was like totally totally faded. Dev79 and Stumbul where spinning all night and shit was pretty ghettotechtastically tastical. Anywho this party is like the shit. Straight up muterhfuckers are to drugged out and banged up to do anything but stand in place and "dance" more like flap back and forth. This is another night that I had my camera and was taking all types of crazy pictures hopefully Di1 will post the ones he didn't put up on Flicker that make that place a reality. We found this high heel shoe in the middle of the road and was taking pictures with it all night. I think their was even a time when I had a beer in the shoe as cushie and was drinking out of it.

So the main reason I was at this party till like 4:30 in the A.M. doing thangs in the bathroom with that girl who told me she wanted to dj like Hollertronix just with out the Crunk since thats corny (yeah she basically missed the whole point of hollertronix) was to see Detriots own Dj Surgeon. This dude is just an underground force in the ghettotek scene. Dudes style is just straight hard ghettotek shit. Best part is that he keeps it really old school by keeping his records bpm'd at around 135 so when you DJ his shit you have to push it up to like 145 and you keep that hot ass speed up vocals and drums sound. Just reminds me of days when I first found out about ghetto house and speeding up records to the upper 140's instead of a lot of the tracks coming out now that start at 140.

So this is some rare ass CD I got from dude called Ghetto Tech Mixin Phase 5 Beyond Ghetto. Now what makes this mix interesting is that he does pull away from the more technoy aspect that he is know for. In this mix you are gonna get a lot of the midwest classics from Funk, Godfather and some special Surgeon blends but thats not the best part. So its kinda like that Atrack CD, lots of hip hop accepellas over ghettotech tracks and other reworks, he also has this really funny breakdown to all the sucker ass Dj's who can't scratch over fast records. Reminds me of the days of ISP and when Magic Mike was putting out booty records on Mo Wax with scracths over them already, not really sure how people dance to this but I guess its for all the dudes in the warehouse at 5 am. Plus this record you get to hear how ghettotech dj's spin Baltimore club. These dudes just push the bar up to like 140 to 145 making Bmore go right back to its roots in breakbeat hardcore. Shit is fucking nasty. Its just a whole new way to interpret those records. I mean I am all into doing crazy shit with djing but I don't think I could ever push Bmore records up that high. Surgeon drops Rod Lee's Dance My Pain Away and it almost sounds like Rod Lee is to fat and out of breath trying to keep on beat and he has to go shoot Emily Rabitt in the butt after she picks him up from his house to drive him to the studio even though she stopped booking for him.

Extra Bonus Databass 062 Boss Up Ep of three year old hip tracks ghettoteked out.

Send me an email to get this.

Editor: Send an email with "5 AM OR trip" to 5151List [at] gmail to receive this mix. See pics from that night here. My personal favorite of the set.

Lilo and Stich like whoa

Yo so this picture isn't actually from the show in Philly but I wanted to post a picture of Switch and Diplo together. But the show was off the chain last night at the studio spot that Diplo just bought. Shit was massive fun with all types of craziness and the who’s who of what ever you wanna call this shit was hanging out. Big shouts to Blaqstarr, Spank Rock, Cullen Stalin, Jawntronix, DSJ, Allison (happy B-Day), Abby, Sarah, TJ, Kitty Kat, ReJayJay, Primeminster Paper Bag, Young C Young, I think that dude Frogman from TTL was there, Catchdini, Sarah, that dude from the Consultants, James James, Agnew, Doc$Beats, re myn der, That Kid Bo, Tommy Ups the Party plus 1, The Get it in Girls (Calley, Jess, Emil's Girlfriend) [can we go to more really sweaty bars where you guys have to take your clothes off and drink 40's in the future $) holla], the simplest of flys jayster, Mr. Dave P, Ribbity Rabit, that girl who was hanging out in Tom's oversized muscle shirt with the American flag thong, the Broadzilla DJ who has a similar name to me, and of course to the man of the night DJ SEGA.

So basically the venue was a fucking sweat box. As soon as you walked in it was just heat and you were dripping with sweat. I hope my ten bucks went towards buying that spot an air conditioner. I got there right before DJ Sega got on and this dude absolutely destroyed the dance floor with lots of original productions and just really slammin songs. His transitions where so solid I just loved yellin the lil Jon "What" and hearing DSJ on the mic like "Okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" and getting buck. This dude is serious. (Sadly no one was wutanging (until Kitty Kat showed up), so looks like they haven’t learned how from the instructions printed on the inside of the Dwizz record)

Next up was freaking Switch and peoples were just not ready yet for the awesomeness this dude drops. His set was actually a little less aggressive than when I heard him earlier in the year. It was kind of disappointing. He opened with some hip hop stuff then into some og productions, then into some MIA joints, mixing in other UK underground bangers right now. He was jammin that Kissy Sell Out dub that was just super smashing. But I was really looking forward to the thunderous bass lines and extreme jacking that came at the end of his set. I guess he had to tone it down a little since he wasn't really playin to a house crowd. But its always crazy to think that this dude commands like serious 8000 person raves in the UK and is sweating it out in this spot in Philly in the US, so intimate I loved it. He left it ready for Diplo to come up and play a bunch of his own productions and what have yous that really got the crowd bouncing. Dropping lots of cuts from the Hollertronix 12"s, the P-H-I-L-L-Y got a serious nod and stuff from his online catalogue like that Rye Rye joint. By this time the place is so freakin hot I am dancing on the second level by the film projections with my pants down drinking red wine out of a solo cup getting buck. All of my clothes were soaked through and when some one hugged me they got a shirt full of sweat. Actually I bet I looked mad thin I should have tried to holler at some girls. Blaqstarr came on after that but it was 1:00 and I was done as were most of the people in the audience.

As I was walking home I got to CCP and was chaffing so bad that I took off my jeans with my shoes on and walked the rest of the way home in my boxers. When I round the corner to my house their are eight cop cars making all the homeless people leave this park where they all sleep on my block and I kinda bug out. Should I keep walking in my boxers with my jeans over my shoulder half drunk on some dwight yokem like its no big deal in front of all these cops to my front door or should hang back by Phillips and try to wiggle my jeans on with my shoes on and hope the cops don't come over and ask me why the fuck I am not wearing any pants. (shit thankfully I was not wearing my stripper underwear that would have been really bad).

Anyways I was happy as shit to get into bed at 1:17 and slept away any worries I might have had.

Switch, Diplo, Blaqstarr, Sega, Josh Wink

Yo, fuck real life for real. I want to be lawnmower man during the day and then magically appear at night at whatever club night that is the best that night. Like this night, in fact this whole day. I have some real world ish to handle all this week and have no idea how much internets I am going to have access to. This means that I'm missing out on all of Wednesday and won't be posting much. Wednesday would have been an all around awesome day. Early morning, I got the daytime grind on lock with some important interesting ish, get out at a mad decent time and then restaurant week reservations at Brasserie Perrier, for two, with a hopeful good look, course I'm not sure about that whole situation anymore. Then, nighttime jumpoff with Switchlo aka Lilo and Stitch aka Switch and Diplo which, if you were lucky, saw kill it pre tour at [Click] at Fluid. Not to mention rockstar (shorty we are rockstars) Blaqstarr and the "hipster premiere of DJ Sega". Sega is the truth. By hipster premiere, they mean, have you been to Jamz on a Friday or Pinnacle on a Sunday? This is an all ages jump off, so I bet some of you have. I got to see the young bol DJ in an intimate setting last week (Happy bday DSJ and Jawntronix) and he absolutely killed while playing all of his own trax. I'm not salty in the least bit. Not at all...
More info at R5Productions.com

And just to add insult to injury, Josh Wink celebrates 10 years of Ovum last Wednesdays at Fluid. If you're more into "traditional" house as opposed to Baltimore house, then you need to be here. Two complete opposite ends of the spectrum. I don't even want to write anymore about this or find that Wink music video where the boombox becomes a big star.
Wink guestlist which is free entry until 12.

Like I said, Not. Salty. At. All. In. The Least. Definitely didn't want to crazy leg wit it to Blaqstarr or Wu Tang to Sega. Nope, not me.

Whats Up With DJ Sega?

Speaking of Casi talking about a Philly Party Music Hollertronix 12", the latest signing to the Mad Decent roster is Philly's own DJ Sega. Sega along with Dee Square are the club music dj's for the all ages crowd. You can catch Sega every Friday at Jamz in Germantown and now Sundays at Pinnacle as well. Expect to see kids getting crazy and wu tanging better than you.
As a producer his stock has exploded with “Woo Hah!” and the track currently forcing kids to Wu-Tang their asses off, “Ghetto Hokey Pokey.”

Asked to describe the nuances that differentiate Baltimore, Jersey and Philly club music, Taylor breaks it down. “Baltimore club is more for the club scene. It’s hype, and has a lot of horns,” he explains. “Jersey club is a little more mainstream simply because they chop it up more to make remixes of mainstream hip-hop, and they use a lot of bass. Philly club has elements of both—without as many horns, and it also has a lot of bass. I try to add some soul to it too.”
Can't wait for that Hollertronix 12".

Whats Up With DJ Technics

Late but important. Check out Dirty South Joe as he catches up with Baltimore club OG Technics.

“There are exploiters of Baltimore club,” says Technics. “But in the back of the consumer’s minds they know these people aren’t creating anything and that it’s coming from another source. It wasn’t gonna blow up and get the kind of attention it has until it crossed over and white kids started listening to it anyway. But until one of the pioneers goes full steam ahead and focuses, it’s not gonna blow up. It’s just gonna be America’s best-kept secret.”

Hmm, more on that later. Check out the rest of the article here.

Scottie B / Mad Decent / Unruly Online

We just had to do a mashup post when mentioning the new Mad Decent blog. Mashups are all the rage or something and they have to do with dinosaurs like triceratops and diplodocus and other crazy extinct giant animals. Also, you can expect all sorts of unknown music that will rule the dance floors in like two months from Paul Devro.

From said blog, so I can tie in with the next part of teh mash up, there are sets from the one and only Scottie B. founder of Unruly Records, king of Bmore club and more. Here is what Diplo has to say bout it bout it:
for me, comin from hollertronix… thats cool like we get a good rep for fucking up the DJ scene , but to help invent a genre is kinda a whole wheat bread loaf crazy.. ive djed with scotty, hes a run of the mill black music staple DJ, he rocks the fitted hats the clean sneakers the polo shirts and holds down clubs likes the paradox on the weekends where metal detectors are manditory and he throws it down. Scotty is a DJ foremost and he knows every new hip hop track that bangs on urban radio… at the same time he can give you a comprehensive house music history if you step to him….. but bottom line scotty b loves music and in this set hes droping blqstarr, sinden , kw griff, switch, fergie, mia, internet only bootlegs and classic baltimore club that only this dude has ripped from his vinyl .. .. its like all this new house music awakened a sleeping giant…. this isnt a ableton mix this is live from Sonar. check it on thursdays or go and buy hollertronix 6 vinyl at www.turntablelab.com where you get the Unruly Simon joint that is a complete take over in 2007
