Don't forget to send me a Friend Request... As if....

They don't really sing and they don't really have deep songs but ohhh shit is this stuff good. They dropped there first single on Kitsune and now got a full length coming out on the ever so popular XL records. I really wish this show was gonna be all ages so I could really see some bored 16 year old girls look really bored while they sing along to this shit. Yo but seriously this shit is going to pop off tonight at Pure.

What It Do: November First Friday

Ah First Friday. I can almost taste the Sutter red wine right now. In this piece the artist appears to be expressing some angst yet love. Wait I can taste the wine that I just poured myself. Ok back to reality for a second... Hows your Halloween costume holding up? You going to wear it out tonight? I'm still debating whether or not I want to bust it out again. Oh and Mad Pussy yo!

Spooning with Tommy Up

Since we are all talking about Paper Street and Tommy on this site like every post I think I am gonna post about him toooo.... Like this one time we were hanging out at the Marathon Grill listening to Cosmo Baker straight murder it and this song came on that was all rocky and kinda electroy. And I start straight jackin in my chair next to dude and he is eggin me on like "Okay all right yeah yeah yeah... Man I am feeling this song too." Thats when his girl Pallah starts getting into it also and then we are like fuck it lets stand up and dance. So we all three stand up and start moving and I turn to girl and i'm like "I'm Justin your Britney lets battle Tommy will judge." So of course I ain't got no moves and I do the hand up in the air, shake the booty move, but its a rock song so I start to do the Molly Ringwald into the Carlton into rebel fist in the air knock dance move. Then she starts to do the all my same moves except for way better. She started with the faux rave dance with out glowsticks into some interpretative swan movements straight into pop, lock, and droppin it down to the floor and coming up all sexy.

So Tommy jumps in and ends it declaring Pallah the winner and as the loser I had to go up to Cosmo and request a Britney spears track which he didn't play. But it turns out the song that we were dancing to was by Spoon and Spoon is freaking playing tonight with The Pony's at the TLA.

Oh snapadooo I am gonna be dance offing girls all night for beers.

Lilo and Stich like whoa

Yo so this picture isn't actually from the show in Philly but I wanted to post a picture of Switch and Diplo together. But the show was off the chain last night at the studio spot that Diplo just bought. Shit was massive fun with all types of craziness and the who’s who of what ever you wanna call this shit was hanging out. Big shouts to Blaqstarr, Spank Rock, Cullen Stalin, Jawntronix, DSJ, Allison (happy B-Day), Abby, Sarah, TJ, Kitty Kat, ReJayJay, Primeminster Paper Bag, Young C Young, I think that dude Frogman from TTL was there, Catchdini, Sarah, that dude from the Consultants, James James, Agnew, Doc$Beats, re myn der, That Kid Bo, Tommy Ups the Party plus 1, The Get it in Girls (Calley, Jess, Emil's Girlfriend) [can we go to more really sweaty bars where you guys have to take your clothes off and drink 40's in the future $) holla], the simplest of flys jayster, Mr. Dave P, Ribbity Rabit, that girl who was hanging out in Tom's oversized muscle shirt with the American flag thong, the Broadzilla DJ who has a similar name to me, and of course to the man of the night DJ SEGA.

So basically the venue was a fucking sweat box. As soon as you walked in it was just heat and you were dripping with sweat. I hope my ten bucks went towards buying that spot an air conditioner. I got there right before DJ Sega got on and this dude absolutely destroyed the dance floor with lots of original productions and just really slammin songs. His transitions where so solid I just loved yellin the lil Jon "What" and hearing DSJ on the mic like "Okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" and getting buck. This dude is serious. (Sadly no one was wutanging (until Kitty Kat showed up), so looks like they haven’t learned how from the instructions printed on the inside of the Dwizz record)

Next up was freaking Switch and peoples were just not ready yet for the awesomeness this dude drops. His set was actually a little less aggressive than when I heard him earlier in the year. It was kind of disappointing. He opened with some hip hop stuff then into some og productions, then into some MIA joints, mixing in other UK underground bangers right now. He was jammin that Kissy Sell Out dub that was just super smashing. But I was really looking forward to the thunderous bass lines and extreme jacking that came at the end of his set. I guess he had to tone it down a little since he wasn't really playin to a house crowd. But its always crazy to think that this dude commands like serious 8000 person raves in the UK and is sweating it out in this spot in Philly in the US, so intimate I loved it. He left it ready for Diplo to come up and play a bunch of his own productions and what have yous that really got the crowd bouncing. Dropping lots of cuts from the Hollertronix 12"s, the P-H-I-L-L-Y got a serious nod and stuff from his online catalogue like that Rye Rye joint. By this time the place is so freakin hot I am dancing on the second level by the film projections with my pants down drinking red wine out of a solo cup getting buck. All of my clothes were soaked through and when some one hugged me they got a shirt full of sweat. Actually I bet I looked mad thin I should have tried to holler at some girls. Blaqstarr came on after that but it was 1:00 and I was done as were most of the people in the audience.

As I was walking home I got to CCP and was chaffing so bad that I took off my jeans with my shoes on and walked the rest of the way home in my boxers. When I round the corner to my house their are eight cop cars making all the homeless people leave this park where they all sleep on my block and I kinda bug out. Should I keep walking in my boxers with my jeans over my shoulder half drunk on some dwight yokem like its no big deal in front of all these cops to my front door or should hang back by Phillips and try to wiggle my jeans on with my shoes on and hope the cops don't come over and ask me why the fuck I am not wearing any pants. (shit thankfully I was not wearing my stripper underwear that would have been really bad).

Anyways I was happy as shit to get into bed at 1:17 and slept away any worries I might have had.

Feist at Tower Theater Sept 12th

I'm told Feist is popular with the kids these days. Luckily for you she is playing this coming wednesday at Tower Theater with JDH & Dave P. You may recognize this song: "My Moon, My Man". I like the Fred Astaire aesthetic. If you're more club lyfestile than Fred Astaire you may like 1 2 3 4 a little more.

Ohhh Mama Bear Lets Get Something To Eat

Dear Mama Bear,

I first meet you on a Sunday night sitting on the stoop with d drinking whiskey and Lagers when you came out in your Abercrombie and Fitch men's pajama pants and Banana Republic tanktop to throw away your perfectly packaged garbage. I hollered "Ay Bay Bay" and you laughed and went back inside only to stick your head back out and ask about the recyclables. So you brought out just one too many cardboard boxes and we made fun of you and like the fire hearted banshee that you is, you came over to talk shit on us. This is when I truly new you were someone I wanted in my life.

Screaming at the top of your lungs how fucked up it was that we were getting drunk at 10:00 pm on a Sunday night, you came over to a pair of stunned dudes who instantly knew this was gonna be the best part of the night. The conversation turned to playful jokes about my age, how old I thought you were, and how much we agreed on Dave Mathews Band is so underrated in the streets right now. I never found out your name that night or you told me and I was drunk and didn't remember to remember it since I was so stunned by your awesomeness. After repeatedly turning down swigs of whisky from a plastic water bottle, and not wanting a can of beer "since you didn't trust your self to only have just one" you slipped inside your house for an early evening. The unprecedented mind fuck was well received by the two of us and it didn't help that we forgot your name so we created your nickname, Mama Bear.

Ever since that night we secretly glance over at your row home just to see if your light is on. One time we even bought schnapps (on some other shit I hate schnapps, like if it's below 40 proof fuck it) cause we thought we would run into you. Then it happened again. You hurried out of your house into a cab to run off to old city to hang with your yuppie suburbanite friends. It was after that mega downpour that I got caught in riding my bike to get a case of Natty Bohs from Stones and I was sitting outside with a case of beer waiting to go upstairs. You were on the phone, said hello and blew off my calls of coming to the Walnut Room.

Then out of the blue last night it happened again. We were sitting there drinking leftover cans of Colt and warm Seagram's when we saw you slinking up the street ever so slightly drifting to the right. You had on a new light blue polo vest on with a white collared shirt underneath matched with a pair of off white Benton heel high cut pants that when you turned around really displayed that you had no ass at all. I was feeling it on so many levels. You were drunk, I was getting drunk, and we all were having a good time. You blurted out that you were 33 and tired of all this bullshit and I never felt more connected to you. The majority of the time we spent talking about the most yuppy shit in the world, people from Jersey parking on our block when we pay for a parking permit. It was so enjoyable to watch you run around screaming at the top of your lungs for some one to come down and move their car that was parked illegally and how you were going to call PPA on them.

It was at this moment I wanted to invite you into my world. I wanted to take you to an electro house night where we would be the only people standing around in pastel colors after getting off my sailboat, drink PBR tall boys and do shoots of rail whiskey while the whole time complaining that we can't get pints of Piels, smoke cig after cig after cig and talk shit on people by generally looking fabulous in a sea of Philly bullshitters. I wanted to wake up in the morning next to you after a night of mayhem and take you to Café Lutecia and sit outside while the spider waitress serves us ice teas and we talk shit on all the yuppies with last year's Lacoste colors on. I wanted you to sit there and even in your hung over state look at me in contempt when I make you pay for your half of the check even though it's really cheap for a big ass sandwich.

Then when it's all over I want you to kick my ass out while you go do you and have to get ready to be a bridesmaid again at some shit wedding in Doylestown that you can't invite me to since the last timeyou did I got drunk and pushed some one into a pool and ruined his $400 black jack phone.

P.S. To the waitress at Café Lutecia, it sucks you broke your foot…But at least you broke your foot in France. Shit I ran my bike into a grate at 20th and Green Street the other day and fucked my shoulder up, and then I found 20 bucks...

Plastic Little, Bonde Do Role & Danger! Danger!

I am pleased to report that the Plastic Little video shoot was a blast. Running around in an old hospital is the jump off. Meanwhile there was choreographed dancing, a bit of nudity, pink nurses, lager and even calculus homework. Talking to Max from Free News Projects, he let me know that the video will be ready for release when it hits Japan and he mentioned that the ultimate goal is to have a video remix for each of the tracks on She's Mature. We will be sure to keep you informed of any upcoming video shoots. For now, if you haven't yet, pick up the album at your favorite music store including iTunes and eMusic. Also don't forget about The Remix of The Remix of The Remix, the Plastic Little x Turntable Lab remix contest.

Also, the real point of this post is to mention their show this Thursday at the Danger! Danger! house in West Philly Broadzilla at Upstairs at Sals. They will be playing with Bonde Do Role, Dave P, Pinkskull and more. For those of you not familiar with Danger! Danger! and the on again West Philly diy house party scene, 34th Street did a recent feature on them.
Located in a quaint residential area, the Danger! Danger! house seems unremarkable on the corner of 47th Street and Warrington Avenue. But behind the unassuming facade is one of the most popular venues of West Philly's burgeoning house show scene. The seven residents, whose history together stretches as far back as middle school, have become seasoned concert promoters. . .

Russell Brodie, unofficial house spokesman and member of in-house band Grandchildren, spearheaded this ambitious project. "I just started inviting bands that I had been hearing a lot about," Brodie said. "It was like trying to put together a regional showcase.
Tickets are only $7, show starts at 8:30 and is all ages.

If you happen to read the Philadelphia Weekly, you will have noticed Jayson Musson's (aka Pack of Rats) new column "Black Like Me". Jayson has a unique writing style and humor that usually has me laughing out loud when I pick up the paper. His humor was responsible for Plastic Little being banned in Vice (temporarily), much of the press releases for Plastic Little and the Too Black for BET series. Here is a snippet from his past column
Listen. R. Kelly can't do no types of wrong. R. Kelly can pee on a thousand little girls on their way to a thousand little Girl Scout meetings and he'll still be a saint in my eyes. If I had a daughter, I'd let him take a shot at her, maybe hoping it'd help me win the Powerball or something. “Go 'head, Kells—aim for her bigass forehead! Don't worry—I'm not going to sue you, dawg. I love you, nigga!” I mean, if Catholics eat Nilla Wafers and claim it's the body of Christ, why can't R. Kelly's piss be of spiritual significance? I'm a flirt.
Check out the first edition of Too Black for BET and his illustrations at his website. Read "Black Like Me" over at the PW, read more ramblings from Musson, Kurt, JonThousand and Amanda Blank at"Fuck Your Blog, Son" (currently NSFW) then head over to the store and choose either Too Black for BET, individual posters from TB4B II, or even receive a daily life affirming quote or haiku.

UPDATE: Plastic Little and Bonde do Role have been moved to Upstairs at Sals for currently unspecified reasons. According to the 34th Street article above, there has been a crackdown by L&I on house party venues. No current facts yet, so we can't quite blame everyones favorite fun smasher.

This is This - Alex Da Corte at ICA

You may remember Alex Da Corte from his imaginative "Welcome Your Sorrows" at the Black Floor Gallery. Well he is back with a new project entitled This is This debuting tonite on his birthday at the Institute of Contemporary Art. Party runs until 8PM and features Dave P djing. As you may be able to tell, the exhibit revolves around a deer. Photo credit PW, which has more on the artwork. Also playing are Plastic Little and Sweatheart with cover charge of a $1. Officially its sold out, but if you show up, you may be able to get in. Also at the ICA is the Daydreamer Magazine launch party featuring DJ Phillee Blunt from the Illvibe Collective. From their MySpace (where else?)
Daydreamer is a magazine that profiles people in their 20's and 30's who have taken exceptional risks, both professional and personal, in order to make their daydreams a reality, living the lives that they want to live. We're highlighting artists, social entrepreneurs, musicians, activists, anyone who has made a sizeable impact in actively shaping the world that they daydream about.
Seems interesting enough, Daydream magazine is scheduled to be a pilot as that most magazines tend to fail within the first two years.

Also tonite is last Wednesdays which means only one thing, Josh Wink and Ovum at Fluid. Get on the guestlist here for free admission.

Get Rad Tonight at Pure

First off I would like to thank Dave P etc for bringing in Soulwax and 2 Many DJ's. Thats nice and all but on a Wednesday? Damn, I'll be drinking a little bit of coffee tomorrow.

2 Many DJ's have to be one of the sickets DJ groups there is. Soulwax' "NY Excuse" has been banging in our headphones for awhile now. It goes down tonight at Pure nightclub, 1221 St. James St. (on St. James bet. 12th and 13th and Walnut and Locust Sts.). Tickets are $12 and there is free Sparks & PBR 9 - 11.

No excuses tonight as there is no Wednesday night weekly for the next two weeks.

I would link to their websites but they are absolutely painful and I wouldn't want you going through that tragedy. If you must: http://soulwax.com/

Jokers of the Scene: Canadian Boys Club Tour Mix '06

Jokers of the Scene out of Ottawa, Canada are currently on tour across the East coast stopping in Philly this past Sunday and the Khyber upstairs. J.o.t.s are DJ Booth and Chameleonic a duo of DJ's and producers currently making waves in Ottawa with their Disorganised parties and now with their musical productions. From MySpace:
we dj. we produce. we remix. we book artists. we throw parties. we promote events. we dance. we sing. we have fun.
Since Jokers of the Scene gets the party started we initially mentioned them in More Bounce: Iota in March. I met up with them Sunday at the Walnut Room where they were playing an electro influenced set with Dave P. The music was quite good but they were hoping to open it up to a wider range of music which they will surely do this Friday. While I was there they hit me off with their exclusive mix that no one else has. So enjoy it below. Tracklisting and photos will be up after their tour is over.

Diplo / CSS / Bonde Do Role Tour Blog & Hollertronix Reunion

Vicarious living via Chris Lemon Red is available now that the tour has officially kicked off. Chris is travelling along on the bus and will be at every show selling merchandise. Say hi to him and you just may end up on the site. Nudity is a sure fire way.

Meanwhile things in Philly are heating up as the weather kinda, sort of cools down. The show is sold out, all 250 tickets at the Mummers Museum. However, maybe, just maybe, there may be 50 more tickets available. Maybe. (Holla at R5) Regardless, just added is the official afterparty: It's the return of Hollertronix! Oh snap! Low Budget will be joining Diplo for an insane afterparty at Transit from 12 - 3:30 with special guest Dave P and reinforced sound. For all those at the show, its free. If you don't manage to get tickets its only $5. My brain is going to melt from all of this. Open bar 8 - 12. Hollertronix at Transit. Ideally, I will make it through all of this with pictures. Then again...
Over at Fluokids I found these awesome tracks among others:
