Benja Styles and JDS: Baltimore Club Music

After numerous stops and starts the 5151 Mix series is back after many false promises, "next week for sure", "its almost done" and "I'd loved to". Finally, JDS & Benja Styles came through and delivered a whole mixtape. Its filled with 45 "new and classic party records" and clocks in at over 75 minutes long. Favorites on the full mix include "Tear Da Club Up", "Superstar", "Dance My Pain Away", "Peanut Butter Jelly", "Watch Out for the Big Girl", "Fuck Your Couch" and more.

JDS & Benja Styles are two of the most in deman DJ's and producers in the city. Benja Styles holds residencies at 32 Degrees on Thursday and Loie on Friday and Saturday. His remixes are constantly found on Clubbangaz records which are essential for working DJ's. JDS meanwhile has been DJing for over 20 years and was Eve's personal tour DJ when she first burst onto the scene. Since then he has commanded his own evening show on 100.3 The Beat with sexy co host Toshamakia.

51:51 x Flamin Hotz Monthly Mix Jumpoff

Back once again with that podcast jumpoff. Its First Friday so that means two things, Old City Arts Crawl and White Tees White Belts. We've been beating the drum for this party since we started. Easily one of the best parties in the city. Now that they've moved to their new spot, this party has officially blown up. You can meet cats from Boston to DC who make the monthly trip to get down with Emynd, Bo Bliz and Dan the Swede. This month is extra special as it is the record release party for Emynd and Bo Bliz and there will be mixtape giveaways from WTHN. Their debut EP, White Tees and White Belts is being released by Flamin Hotz and is in stores here in Philly at Armands and The Sound of Market. I've got word that it will be at Turntable Lab and your favorite record stores early next week. Flamin Hotz picked them up as the duo have been coming with straight heat lately. Just check out this message that they received from Scottie B:
Need a big big favor. Please could u send me the new EP u have. I will send u whatever it costs thru paypal or whatever. Im gonna be at Fabric on 2/2. Wont be able to get the joint and i know Emynd and Bo came w that fire! Please let me know!"

51:51 Monthly Mix Podcast Jumpoff

Now presenting the FiftyOneFiftyOne.com monthly mix podcast jumpoff (fully web 2.0 compliant). First up we scooped up Double L (as seen to the left) to put fiya on the riddims. You may remember last years Home for Carnival that he collaborated on with El Professor. Well he's back with a new mixtape called In Ya Bloodclot Face featuring the hottest dancehall riddims out there.
double L is one of eight members of G13 SOUND, a Philadelphia-based DJ collective specializing in rockin’ parties and purveying good music. He has just released In Ya Bloodclot Face, a sonic trip through the toughest, hottest dancehall riddims coming outta yard. This is the follow up to this past summers’ Home for Carnival, which spotlights some of the biggest soca hits from the past 5 years and was collaborated on with fellow G13 member, El Professor.
Music has always been a part of L’s life. Starting with piano lessons at age 5 that lasted for the following 10 years, to playing guitar and drums in various bands through high school and now DJing.
Through the years double L has played all over the Philadelphia metro area, including venues like Transit, Shampoo, Chrome, Loie, Filo’s (RIP), Sugar Mom’s & many more.
Currently, you can catch him Thursday nights at Byblos (18th & Sansom, Rittenhouse Sq., Phila.). (Holla at a Philly Weekly to get the coupon for a free hookah.)
