So last night at Metropolis with the Philadelphyinz, Morsy dropped this track.  I’ve definitely heard this before, but finally tracked it down thanks to Skinny.  Ok, so this is old, not sure how old but eons old in blog years. Actual years? Not so sure. This video showed up on Youtube June 19, 2006, tens of videos have showed up since. According to the MP3, its by Furacao 2000, which is just a sound system / label of multiple djs and performers. According to the song its by “The Double MP4″. Trying to track this down is a bit difficult as the only results are for file type mp4. My resident Brazilian expert (gwpow here and the fine writer of Beat Diaspora) has this to say, which isn’t very helpful so maybe this will stir him to find out more.

I think I remember this from high school . . . one of the goofy things we found on the Internet and circulated around the computer lab. I didn’t realize at the time it was Brazilian, nor do I recall the fondling/porno mags. Hmm. I guess I’m not being that helpful. It seems like intentionally ironic Sao Paulo rather than unintentionally ironic funk carioca IMO.

This could be true since those partially responsible for this video are the design duo Neon. Neon began as friends in college in Sao Paulo initially creating beachwear and now have branched out since their beginning roots in 2002. Dear Everyone,

Wow…… In two weeks I will be moving to Los Angeles. After a decade in the glorious city of Philadelphia, I have decided to move on; and WHAT A TIME TO GO!!!! This Past week or two has been one of the most special and amazing times in my life. For the first time in i can’t remember when, I am totally convinced that “EVERYTHING IS GONNA BE ALL RIGHT!!!!!!”.

I want my going away party to be as special and wonderful as my time in Philadelphia with all of you has been. To that end; a group of wonderful, talented people has been transferring the Launchpad Gallery into “Where the Wild Things Are” and i can not think of a better theme. Really….. It’s gonna be so great……

This party is going to be amazing; good music, good people, rebuilt bridges, new friends, cheap drinks, hugs, crazy string, love, laughter, substance over form, compassion, passion, memories, and life
