Ok, so Emynd has been really adamant that Jay Z’s latest track Jockin isn’t all that worth the hype. He instead points to a new song from Gorilla Zoe feat Lil Wayne. Not surprised that Emynd would point to a Wayne song but this song is so good. Like, amazing good, I’ve listened over and over to it good. So far, the counter says 15 times with probably 15 times on zshare before downloading it. Emynd’s summary that it sounds like Sizurp personified probably is the best way to define this.
Oh shit, this is so classic. Club bangggeeerrrr!!!! Emynd & Bo Bliz picked 30 of their favorite Philly rap songs for volume 1. You know there is Beans, Peedi and Freeway of course. Plus Gillie, Schooly D, Reef, Cool C and a whole lot more.
We completed this about two years ago so there isn’t much new stuff, and it’s really impossible to be exhaustive when making mixes like this–you’re bound to leave someone disappointed with what’s been included and what’s been excluded. But, that being said, since we never wound up doing anything with this mix and we’re both still really happy with it, we figured we might as well post it on the internets for the world to download. Big shout outs to Cosmo Baker who was a big influence on this mix (he was the reason we put “40 Barz” up on this ish).

By now, some of you might have heard that The Arts Garage was shut down by the Department of License and inspection for code violations, including a requirement to install sprinkler system. The sprinkler system is a $50,000 expense and can take six to eight weeks to complete.
L & I made it clear that The Arts Garage will not be permitted to re-open until the violation is corrected.After careful consideration, it does not appear likely that The Arts Garage can reopen sooner than 90 days.

In other L&I news, Loie was raided Friday by L&I and the police department around 10:30. Benja Styles was playing as he is resident on Fridays. I stepped outside and the police came up and handcuffed the bouncer, turned the lights on, music off and completely shut down the place. Everyone was required to show ID before leaving. Loie is again operating on normal hours.
