It’s a Making Time weekend with Yacht and a secret special guest that rhymes with “Grey Hells” at Voyeur tonight. However, the event I’m really excited about is Saturday, The Making Time Warehouse Project with Simian Mobile Disco. Venue details will be announced tonight at Making Time. If you attend tonight’s Making Time you will receive a ticket for $5 entry to SMD tomorrow, otherwise it’s $13 at the door.
Violence Recordings CEO & Founder Hive makes an exclusive East Coast appearance at Fluid tonight for Bedlam 20. Seraph & Royce, Ixia and Contact High open things up with Sharpness and Rare B Ki on the mic. Doors open at 9 and it’s $10 all night.
If this feels like deja vu, then you’re right. Medusa closed this past weekend so Gregg and Romes weren’t able to play. Each and every Sunday it’s Marinate Sundays with Federation Sound at Medusa Lounge. Kenny Meez holds it down with special guests. This week Gregg Nyce and Romes will be in the spot. Gregg is constantly featured on here for his flawless mixing in the Lunch Box series or his numerous remixes. Romes is your favorite DJ when you head out to clubs like Pearl, Denim etc. Romes is part of the working DJ’s in bottle service clubs that have the event name and random details featured instead of who is spinning. Needless to say he is in the top tier of quality Philly DJ’s.
Gregg Nyce just released a pack of reggae blends featuring the Snoop x Kid Cudi x Diplo produced That Tree. Grab them here from mediafire.

This Friday Robotique presents the return of Stone’s Throw Record’s Dam-Funk! This man is the epitome of West Coast boogie funk.
As a DJ/selector, Dãm attracts the most discerning Boogie Funk afficionados within driving distance of his storied Monday-night Funkmosphere parties. But it’s not just collectors at the bar toasting to the melodic sounds. Anyone who grooves to the likes of Slave, Aurra, early Prince, Prelude Records and the like, will get a dose of those groups’ unknown contemporaries – more obscure but equally Funk-worthy.
Download and listen to Passion a track realeased straight from the lab by Dam-Funk in mid February. Dam-Funk - Passion
Tickets are only $10 and you better buy them in advance because this will sell out.
Robotique takes their journey into funk, disco and more every Friday with your pilots Bill W and Ryan T at Kung Fu Necktie.
This Friday it’s another Seclusiasis bass banger as Let Your Body Take Control is back for round 2. This edition features 2 floors with Dre Skull and Seclusiasis on the main floor upstairs and Dfrnt and the Inciting crew downstairs on the ground floor
Dre Skull not only channels Rick Rubin’s stylings, but also has begun to take on his breadth of work having worked with Vybz Kartel, Sizzla, remixing Diplo & Laidback Luke, Lil Scrappy and bursting on the scene with Juiceboxxx in 2007. For a quick primer on Dre Skull, download and listen to the mix he did for XLR8R back in late October below
Meanwhile Scottish DJ / producer DFRNT will be headlining the ground floor with the Inciting crew. DFRNT is best known his brand of “deep”, “beautiful” , “heady” dubstep but is expected to bring a more upbeat and dance friendly set this Friday which is more representative of his latest album Metafiction. His stint this Friday is just the beginning of an East Coast tour. Check out the 2 mixes below to hear the difference.

Fools Gold / Nightshifters / Acephale artist Kingdom aka Kkingdomm will be bringing the heavy bass to the Barbary tonight. Kingdom has been on a tear ever since I first heard OMG Michelle’s You Don’t Know Michelle produced by Kingdom in late 2007 or early 2008 and his first mixtape, posted here in May of 2008. February saw his debut single Mind Reader released by Fools Gold. In January he had a feature remix on L-Vis 1990’s United Groove. Needless to say his career is only going to take off with those 2 releases coming in the first quarter of 2010.
In February, Kingdom joined fellow Fools Gold artists, Spank Rock, Ninjasonik, Theophilus London and more at the famed Fabric Nightclub (the best club I’ve ever been to) and released a promo mix. If you haven’t, download it below. It’s a dubstep / bassline / bass heavy mix featuring plently of Kingdom’s own production and more.
