This past weekend saw the launch of AUFPhiladelphia at North Bowl. We sent over some questions in the past week to get and idea of who and what AUF is.
What is AUF?

AUF stands for “A UNITED FRONT” Its the way I feel we need to act to establish Philadelphia as producer of fine goods that other cities should take notice of.

Will you stock Philly brands exclusively or will there be other clothes as well?

Yes. The brands we will showcase and offer are all Philly Based. We will also offer products made by Philly artists

Pr3tty Vacant is the perfect answer to this economy. The concept is simple, recessionaire specials from your favorite brands in completely empty storefronts. Everyone wins. Real estate owners have occupied floor space, designers can unload extra stock and you get a great deal on some of your favorite brands. For the next two months Pr3tty Vacant occupies the former Blaque Linen at 704 South Street (and before that a piercing shop that I can’t currently place anyone remember?). I was curious as to what this is all about so I caught up with them over email.

What is Pr3tty Vacant?

Pr3ttyVacant is a temporary retail experience popping up in empty storefronts, hopefully near you.

Where did you get the idea? Did you develop the concept on your own?

Pr3ttyVacant is a new idea in retail that is catered to the issues around the economy. There are so many stores that have went out of business, therefore leaving vacant retail spaces littering cities. There is also a good amount of excess inventory from hot retail brands due to consumers having less disposable income. Add to the mix that people still want to look good. You put it all together and you get Pr3ttyVacant.

Having run a marketing company (Interference Inc.) for 8 years, we are in the business of looking for opportunities for brands and consumers to connect. With PV, we saw a unique, timely opportunity so we developed the idea and decided to do it for ourselves.

Pedestrian, the one of a kind, Philly born, men’s boutique has appropriately, crossed the street. They are now located at 526 S. Third St. between Makos and S&J cigar shop. Their decor and layout has a completely different feel from the O.G., creating any man’s dream…complete with black walls, a lounge area with a flatscreen tv and a huge leather couch. Add some of the best streetwear that you can find in Philly and what man can resist? Rumor has it that a half pipe is in the works for the back alley area and a DJ booth for the front window……now if only they started selling womens clothes, and only played episodes of “America’s Next Top Model,” I think I’d never leave!!

We’ve made a new Rvng t-shirt. You may or may not remember the Get Rad t-shirts or Mutated Men before those but they were really fucking “special”. These are no exception.

The design (by Kevin, durrr) is a loose spin on the rigid “R” logo that was stamped on our foreheads fresh from the conceptual womb.
