My first twitter message after winning: ” Omg lol holy uh? Dream land? Pop champagne at broad and snyder!” So crazy. Did little William at the top of Comcast help? Or is it just such an awesome year? Great in 08! So crazy. We were at South Philly Tap Room, yes very arugalist of me, but good beer and so much better view than game 5 part 1 at Oscars oh and much closer to the stadium. Closed out the tab with 2 outs left and headed to Broad Street to pop champagne. Can not really string together a sentence so after the jump, video and more pictures. Oh and this is a celebratory post, no negatives here. (more…)
Today was awesome! I’m so lucky I was able to witness this amazing event. So many influential Philly bred Dj’s were in attendance. It was a day full of mutual camaraderie and photo flashes from every angle with every combination of Dj’s. The event was held at the Mansion at Forrest Hill in Fairmount park on Parkside Ave. It was a gorgeous space. Jonene Taddei and Kamau Stanford, with a gang of others organized the event, attended to every tiny detail and did a fabulous job. There were individual shots of each Dj taken, one with headphones, a second with a name plaque. Everyone received an information booklet complete with Dj quotes about the event, information on the location and 3 blank pages for autographs in the back. Custom T-Shirts by FreshMeltWater, to celebrate the occasion. During Jonene’s thank you speech a moment of silence was given to note DJ AM’s absence, it was touching. Not but a half hour after the first round of photos were taken did Mix Master Mike, better known as Mayor Nutter arrive to be bombarded with cameras, handshakes and smiles. Everyone was so excited to see him, it was awesome. There was a great vibe and a great celebration of all the great Philadelphia Dj’s, big and small. I had a great time. The afterparty is sure to be a hit as well.

Tonight at Silk City a Philly All Star Tribute to the life and work of Mpozi Mshale Toblert. Mpozi was an award winning press photographer from Philadelphia. He was responsible for some of the earliest and most memorable photos as the Roots developed into the worldwide sensation they have become. He was childhood friends with Cosmo Baker and Questlove. He also moonlighted as reggae/dub DJ around the city and eventually in Indianapolis where he moved in 1998.
This tribute event will feature an all-star Philly lineup including Sadiki, Dozia, King Britt, Chuck Treece, Cosmo Baker, ?uestlove, Schoolly D, Jafar Barron, Brendan Bring’em, and more.
Entry is $7 and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Mpozi Mshale Tolbert Studios

Yo, Thursday, Friday, Saturday was bonkers. Out of control, FREAK OUT LIKE CRAZY PEOPLE out of control. Making Time was a little too crowded for me but Erol Alkan pumped out the rave jams, playing an hour worth of non vocal tracks, sadly there were few glowsticks which would have made things so much better. Saturday was the jump off for me. Shout out to Kimble for coming through from B-lo. JOTS and White T’s held down the basement with a whole different party vibe than the main floor. Shout out to the three girls on stage me. I see you, apparently Jay did too.
