If this feels like deja vu, then you’re right again. Medusa closed this past weekend yet again so Gregg and Romes weren’t able to play. Each and every Sunday it’s Marinate Sundays with Federation Sound at Medusa Lounge. Kenny Meez holds it down with special guests. This week fellow Federation Sound Selectah Max Glazer will be coming down from NYC alongside Gregg Nyce and Romes in the spot. Gregg is constantly featured on here for his flawless mixing in the Lunch Box series or his numerous remixes. Romes is your favorite DJ when you head out to clubs like Pearl, Denim etc. Romes is part of the working DJ’s in bottle service clubs that have the event name and random details featured instead of who is spinning. Needless to say he is in the top tier of quality Philly DJ’s.

Sonkin, a member of the Seclusiasis crew, recently released Fun In the Sun a dubstep mix to help wobble the winter blues away. It is definitely helping me through the end of the day. Fun… features 22 tracks from the likes of Joker, Starkey, Si Young, Tempa T, Burial, Skream and many more. Download and listen to it below.
Every Friday Kenny Meez and Federation Sound tear it down at the Arts Garage. This week they will have Solomonic Sound in the building!
Marinate Sundays is back! Marinate has been running for 10 years and has found a new home at Medusa. Kenny Meez will be playing the best in dancehall and reggae every Sunday. It’s MLK day the next day so come get it in with us!
Saturday is going to be ridiculously awesome. There are way too many excellent events to go to so I decided to throw all 10 together in one mega post.
First up:
Head to the Arts Garage from2 - 7 for the artists & designers market with vending and live art from Amanda Diva, Heidi Rolland, Flygirrl and more. There will be drink specials, food, DJ’s and plenty of art & fashion for yourself or will make great presents for your loved ones.
Superprince is Shawn Ryan and Peter Dragontail and they have united for this summer time mix of awesome.
After hibernating through another cold Philadelphia winter, Superprince has awakened once again for a summer of block parties, drives to the Jersey shore & waking up in strange places. Good times lie ahead, but first we must take the proper precautions to make the summer of 09 legendary. You may need to get your bike tuned up. You may be on the market for a sexy new bathing suit. You may need another part-time job to support your iced coffe habit. You may just need an air conditioner. Superprince can’t help you with any of this. Superprince has however spent his winter distilling the perfect blend of upbeat summer songs for barbeques, beach trips, “fun”, etc. Follow the download link below to prepare yourself for impending summer joy.
Now how awesome is that?

Meanwhile fight aliens with Jay Yo and Shawn Ryan on Independence Day this Saturday at Hurrah.
Wait, what? Aliens? After the jump I’ll let Peter Dragontail tell the tale. Also, download the Superprince mix and get the tracklist (more…)
This Friday, 51:51 and Flamin Hotz present I Can Has Bass with Balagan from Baltimore. Balagan brought Cabide down to Baltimore last year. Balagan just got back from Brazil and did a short mix from the CDR’s he got while down there.
You ever look at a flyer and ask what is going on here? Yeah, well I ask myself that for pretty much every Hurrah flyer so I started asking.
1)Robot baseball discotech? Care to explain?
Well I am sure that you have heard about the future and about how the robots are going to takeover in the next 5 - 100 years so we thought it would be a good idea to throw a party that depicted robots in a sort of cuddly, humane fashion to take everyone’s mind off their brutal, heartless and inevitable takeover.
However, where the term Robot Baseball Discotech came from is currently under hot debate. The talented party rocker, Skinny Friedman of the Philadelphyinz (who will be the guest at Hurrah this month) is rumored (mostly on the internet) to have been the originator of Robot Baseball Discotech.
2)Wait, how is discotech supposed to be spelled?
Discothèque, its french for “library of discs”. Pretty sure that is true. Although, library of discs doesnt sound very sexy, which is a problem, because Hurrah is very sexy. So im going to stop here. Feel like I am crossing too many wires.
3)So who gets to play Tuff Guy, Wildcard and Stud 2.0?
Well call me mad, but I believe that there is a little bit of Tuff Guy, Wildcard and Stud 2.0 in all of us. Although, I guess the honorary title of Wildcard could be bestowed upon whomever unscrews the lightbulb at 2 am. (That may sound like a metaphor but its actually not.)
It most certainly is. This is actually Peter Dragontail filling out these questions. Shawn has been, ironically enough, captured by robots. I think it is worth mentioning that me doing this interview is further delaying Shawn’s rescue from the robots’ merciless clutches. And by rescue I mean me going to the robot headquarters to pay Shawn’s bail.
5)Do you guys have themed costumes planned? Were the baseball furies your favorite gang?
No themed costumes BUT Dave Tat (Nighttime World Radio) will be performing live hand surgery. It’s not quite legal because its so AWESOME. Go to www.Hurrahdjs.com for more information.
AND my favorite gang is Gang of Four. The band, not the communists.
6)Does Medusa still sell sparks?
Indubitably.
7)Anything else I should know?
Nah
So there you have it, all of your questions answered or all your answers questioned. Like if those are cuddly, humane robots, I hate to see what our overlords will look like. Really you should probably just go and dance with the robots, get in their good graces before they take over in the next 5 - 100 years.
