The Seclusiasis gets it in tonight at Fluid with special guest Mike Slott performing live at this month’s Who Run It?. Mike Slott was born in Dublin but now resides in NYC and has been getting some major airplay and much respect around the world for his bass heavy music. He has releases under his own name as well as a coproducer with Hudmo in the group Heralds of Change. Early last year he was selected to do a mix for Marry Anne Hobbs last year which featured 7 out of 10 tracks that he either produced himself or as Heralds of Change. If you’re a dubstep and bass music fan, tonight is not to be missed. Ghost, Sonkin and RX open things up tonight. Cover is $5 before 11 and $8 after.
This Friday it’s another Seclusiasis bass banger as Let Your Body Take Control is back for round 2. This edition features 2 floors with Dre Skull and Seclusiasis on the main floor upstairs and Dfrnt and the Inciting crew downstairs on the ground floor
Dre Skull not only channels Rick Rubin’s stylings, but also has begun to take on his breadth of work having worked with Vybz Kartel, Sizzla, remixing Diplo & Laidback Luke, Lil Scrappy and bursting on the scene with Juiceboxxx in 2007. For a quick primer on Dre Skull, download and listen to the mix he did for XLR8R back in late October below
Meanwhile Scottish DJ / producer DFRNT will be headlining the ground floor with the Inciting crew. DFRNT is best known his brand of “deep”, “beautiful” , “heady” dubstep but is expected to bring a more upbeat and dance friendly set this Friday which is more representative of his latest album Metafiction. His stint this Friday is just the beginning of an East Coast tour. Check out the 2 mixes below to hear the difference.

Fools Gold / Nightshifters / Acephale artist Kingdom aka Kkingdomm will be bringing the heavy bass to the Barbary tonight. Kingdom has been on a tear ever since I first heard OMG Michelle’s You Don’t Know Michelle produced by Kingdom in late 2007 or early 2008 and his first mixtape, posted here in May of 2008. February saw his debut single Mind Reader released by Fools Gold. In January he had a feature remix on L-Vis 1990’s United Groove. Needless to say his career is only going to take off with those 2 releases coming in the first quarter of 2010.
In February, Kingdom joined fellow Fools Gold artists, Spank Rock, Ninjasonik, Theophilus London and more at the famed Fabric Nightclub (the best club I’ve ever been to) and released a promo mix. If you haven’t, download it below. It’s a dubstep / bassline / bass heavy mix featuring plently of Kingdom’s own production and more.
Sonkin, a member of the Seclusiasis crew, recently released Fun In the Sun a dubstep mix to help wobble the winter blues away. It is definitely helping me through the end of the day. Fun… features 22 tracks from the likes of Joker, Starkey, Si Young, Tempa T, Burial, Skream and many more. Download and listen to it below.
UK bad boy Untold has been making waves in the dubstep scene pushing the sound to brand new levels. Experience the heavy bass this Thursday at the Khyber at the next Subdivision. Si Young, Lady Prowl and Battle Axebaby open things up. It’s only $5 all night with $1 PBR’s and $2 Kenzingers.
Untold recently did a promo mix for Fabric’s Elevator Music on Sinden’s Kiss FM Show. He started things out with his soon to be released remox of Boys Noize and things kept going from there.
If you missed it, Untold was featured on the XLR8R podcast in September, grab it here.
Btw “flufftronix: Busy afternoon, confirming upcoming shows.. big @Subdivision announcements soon! Some of my fave UK bass dudes coming in April and May..”
Subdivison returns tonight upstairs at the Khyber with Flufftronix, Lady Prowl and RX. No cover and free drinks til they run out. Get you wobble on. Lets hope that the Spring brings a new venue to replace 941 and more UK talent mate.
Flufftronix and Dirty South Joe have teamed up to put out Luvstep, a mix showcasing the sensual side of dubstep. Get it from the Mad Decent Podcast on Valentines Day. Share it with someone you love…
This Sunday head to Kung Fu Necktie for that street bass with the Seclusiasis crew featuring Starkey, Dev79, Ghost, Darrel Asbury and making a special appearance from Japan, BD1982.
Recently, Philly was profiled in XLR8R city guides and Starkey and Dev79 were asked to do a mix to represent that street bass sound. The mix features a number of Seclusiasis tracks, DJ Sega, Nate Day, Emynd and more.
This Friday it’s a UK invasion at Mad Division as Mad Decent and Subdivision team up to bring in Joker & Nomad, L-Vis 1990 and Bok-Bok alongside New York’s Kingdom and hometown heroes DJ Sega, Dirty South Joe, Flufftronix and Lady Prowl. This is going to be massive mate! Seriously if you’re at all into dubstep or grime then do not miss this. Cannot stress how big this party is, very possibly one of the most important of the year with the amount of talent in one venue. Tickets are only $12 presale or $15 at the door. I highly reccomend getting presale since the Mad Decent Mausoleum almost always sells out. This was originally scheduled for 941 Theater but was moved once that was shut down. Get tickets here.
To get you ready for the event, Flufftronix and Dirty South Joe have teamed up to release Luvstep aka <3step aka Love step, showing the softer and sensitive side of dubstep that has been bubbling up in the last year or so.
Flufftronix & DSJ - Luvstep
After the jump, download the luvstep mix and check out the track list
UPDATE: So apparently I jumped the gun, thought this had already been released but it won’t be out until December as a Mad Decent podcast along with an interview with Joker. Artwork and track list after the jump.
UPDATE2: Luvstep is coming this Valentines day, order now and get a handcrafted love note from Amberella gallery. Order it here
What’s so strange is last week I went to FWD with my mini disc recorder to record the night and the girl gave me so much shit about bootlegging and how the DJ’s are all spinning specials and how I can’t record it since that’s how people are gonna bootleg the tracks. But all I was thinking was these people do the same damn thing on their internet radio show. Like right now they are releasing this to the net.
I don’t know but Rinse is by far my fav pirate here in LDN, check the site for loads of great music.
