This Friday it’s a UK invasion at Mad Division as Mad Decent and Subdivision team up to bring in Joker & Nomad, L-Vis 1990 and Bok-Bok alongside New York’s Kingdom and hometown heroes DJ Sega, Dirty South Joe, Flufftronix and Lady Prowl.  This is going to be massive mate!  Seriously if you’re at all into dubstep or grime then do not miss this.  Cannot stress how big this party is, very possibly one of the most important of the year with the amount of talent in one venue.  Tickets are only $12 presale or $15 at the door.  I highly reccomend getting presale since the Mad Decent Mausoleum almost always sells out.  This was originally scheduled for 941 Theater but was moved once that was shut down.  Get tickets here.

To get you ready for the event, Flufftronix and Dirty South Joe have teamed up to release Luvstep aka <3step aka Love step, showing the softer and sensitive side of dubstep that has been bubbling up in the last year or so.

As mentioned previously, Red Bull Public Assembly is a battle of the promoters.  Who can throw the best party?  Whoever wins then gets the opportunity to throw an even bigger party in NYC for CMJ this fall.  Tayyib Smith of 215 Mag and his promotional company Little Giant will be battling Jay Yo and Simplefly for the crown.

Tayyib’s event is this coming Wednesday, September 16th at Panda Bar, formerly Mar Bar, above Marathon Grill at 40th and Walnut.  Mad Decent’s Maluca will be performing live with DJ’s Diamond Kuts (Power 99), Sammy Slice (Silk Thursdays) and Brick Bandits and Mad Decent club extraordinaire DJ Sega.  Doors at 9:30 and cover is $5 all night.

As mentioned, the following week is Jay’s party with Amanda Blank, Cosmo Baker and Eli Escobar at Woodys.

Still one of the best live shows I have seen in 2009

Seems just like yesterday but it was really sometime in May. Paul from Clear Booking was in town to go see Sega open for Buraka so we took the Chinatown bus up with Sarah Lee a Korean girl who ran in the streets of the LES. This was also around the time of the Hipster Grifter, mind you, so we had some great conversations about that riding the Chinatown bus into NYC. She lived in Queens but hung out all day in LES, worked in porn to put herself through school, was married to this dude for a green card, got twitter updates from NYC transit and all around was pretty fun but was still a mind fuck to start the night. She wanted to come to the concert to see Sega but it turned out she had to baby sit her grandparents which when we probed deeper didn’t sound all that bad but they needed someone to be with them some nights out of the week. Why she agreed on a Saturday night is beyond me. If last nights party isn’t blocked over here at DB I bet I could find her in some pic.

Last ever I Can Has Bass at the Medusa Lounge went out with a big big bang. We got the bol Dj Sega to come in and just destroy the place. It was a sweet sweet good bye as everyone I know in Philly came out of the wood works to say what ups, wish me good luck, and bought me a shot. Philly you know I am gonna miss you. So many good times and we rocked them all. Through all the ups and the downs luv u. Will be back real soon, so don’t go and change on me.
