The Barbarella aka Upstairs at The Barbary is in full swing and as mentioned last week on Twitter, they now have Taco Tuesdays, every Tuesday from 5 – 8. There are both meat and veggie tacos along with $1 Tecates. Following Taco Tuesday it’s Family Ties from 9 – 2 with Dirty South Joe, Gun$ Garcia and Jayson Musson taking turns behind the bar and the turntables. Drafts and mixed drinks are $1 off all night and the kitchen is open until 1.
I would be remiss not to mention that the original $1 Taco Tuesday at Tattooed Moms is still going on. Stop on down and pay Mom a visit.

This Friday, Subdivision presents UK Funky phenom Roska direct from London alongside NY’s Kingdom. Luvstep’s Flufftronix and Dirty South Joe open things up at the Khyber. As of early this morning it had looked like the party would have been scaled back due to Roska having visa issues. However, as of this afternoon Roska announced that he had sorted the issues out and would be on his way here. Roska has been making waves for years in the UK and was recently profiled here in September. Grab the Fact Mix we posted there and take a listen to this podcast he did for Disko404.

Fools Gold / Nightshifters / Acephale artist Kingdom aka Kkingdomm will be bringing the heavy bass to the Barbary tonight. Kingdom has been on a tear ever since I first heard OMG Michelle’s You Don’t Know Michelle produced by Kingdom in late 2007 or early 2008 and his first mixtape, posted here in May of 2008. February saw his debut single Mind Reader released by Fools Gold. In January he had a feature remix on L-Vis 1990′s United Groove. Needless to say his career is only going to take off with those 2 releases coming in the first quarter of 2010.
In February, Kingdom joined fellow Fools Gold artists, Spank Rock, Ninjasonik, Theophilus London and more at the famed Fabric Nightclub (the best club I’ve ever been to) and released a promo mix. If you haven’t, download it below. It’s a dubstep / bassline / bass heavy mix featuring plently of Kingdom’s own production and more.

Flufftronix and Dirty South Joe have teamed up to put out Luvstep, a mix showcasing the sensual side of dubstep. Get it from the Mad Decent Podcast on Valentines Day. Share it with someone you love…
This Friday it’s a UK invasion at Mad Division as Mad Decent and Subdivision team up to bring in Joker & Nomad, L-Vis 1990 and Bok-Bok alongside New York’s Kingdom and hometown heroes DJ Sega, Dirty South Joe, Flufftronix and Lady Prowl. This is going to be massive mate! Seriously if you’re at all into dubstep or grime then do not miss this. Cannot stress how big this party is, very possibly one of the most important of the year with the amount of talent in one venue. Tickets are only $12 presale or $15 at the door. I highly reccomend getting presale since the Mad Decent Mausoleum almost always sells out. This was originally scheduled for 941 Theater but was moved once that was shut down. Get tickets here.
To get you ready for the event, Flufftronix and Dirty South Joe have teamed up to release Luvstep aka <3step aka Love step, showing the softer and sensitive side of dubstep that has been bubbling up in the last year or so.

After the jump, download the luvstep mix and check out the track list
UPDATE: So apparently I jumped the gun, thought this had already been released but it won’t be out until December as a Mad Decent podcast along with an interview with Joker. Artwork and track list after the jump.
UPDATE2: Luvstep is coming this Valentines day, order now and get a handcrafted love note from Amberella gallery. Order it here
Tomorrow, Pure Gold Gallery in the Piazza welcomes Doctor Crab and FARO for HALLOWEEEEED.
Remember when your life went wrong? We do. HALLOWEEEEED is a steaming cauldron full of bad ideas brewed up by Doctor Crab and FARO. A celebration of when Halloween stopped being about fun size candy and superhero costumes, and started being about warm beers, awkward sex, and breaking windows.Doctor Crab and FARO will be taking over the Pure Gold gallery on October 31st to create a visual and interactive display of evil, toilet paper, and pregnancy scares. The work will include paintings and illustrations by the artists individually as well as collaborations with each other and a hand full others who truly understand what it means to be buried alive by the drunken ghosts of Halloweed. In addition to traditional works on presentable materials, the artists will be creating a number of installations inside the gallery, included are a giant ugly mural and an even uglier skateboard ramp. Bring your board, beer coozie and leave your church clothes at home, things are going to get messy.
The opening reception is from 6 – 10 on Halloween. Then the party heads to the RUBA club for Low B, DSJ, Gun$ Garcia, Copout and Johnny Ryall. It’s free til 2, then $5 after. Flyer after the jump. (more…)
