The September 2010 Barbary Calendar is out and similar to last months calendar save for 2 huge events.  Next Tuesday, Brendan Bring’em, Apt One, Sammy Slice, Emynd, Pink Skull, Dirty South Joe, Emynd, Skinny Friedman, Shawn Ryan and more TBA will be playing a benefit show for friend and fellow DJ Stereofaith.  We mentioned the DC benefit about a month ago and since then he has had the surgery and it went well.  More info on that soon.  The other big event is Josh Wink will be overtaking the Barbary for 4 hours on the 23rd to celebrate Ovum Records 15 year anniversary party.  Huge.

The Barbarella aka Upstairs at The Barbary is in full swing and as mentioned last week on Twitter, they now have Taco Tuesdays, every Tuesday from 5 – 8.  There are both meat and veggie tacos along with $1 Tecates.  Following Taco Tuesday it’s Family Ties from 9 – 2 with Dirty South Joe, Gun$ Garcia and Jayson Musson taking turns behind the bar and the turntables.  Drafts and mixed drinks are $1 off all night and the kitchen is open until 1.

I would be remiss not to mention that the original $1 Taco Tuesday at Tattooed Moms is still going on.  Stop on down and pay Mom a visit.

Emynd is old!  He turns 30 and what better way to celebrate than with the don of Unruly Records, Scottie B. Emynd will most likely be too drunk or going to bed early so his better half Bo Bliz will be likely DJing most of the night. Designer Drugs celebrates the launch of their brand new record label, Sex Cult tonight at the Barbary. Sex Cult Records features artists Designer Drugs, Elle Rex, Alvin Risk and Cerebral Vortex.  Remixers include Tom Deluxx and Cyberpunkers along with DJ’s Jesse Jamz and Richie Panic.  Tonight Designer Drugs, Jhn Rdn, Jesse Jamz, Aaronk, Elle Rex and Killah Cat will all be at the Barbary.  Cover is $5 all night.

Designer Drugs are in the middle of a North American tour that has just seen them land back on the East Coast.  Tonight they play The Barbary, then are off to Cananda, California and back in Philly on June 15th only to criss cross the country again and play The Barbary on July 13th.  Come out and support the duo and their hectic tour tonight with a Live Forever reunion featuring Jhn Rdn,  Scotty TooDope, Jesse Jamz and Emilio Airhorn, $5 all night.

Looks like the Barbary has some big parties this month with Stretch Armstrong on Friday at the Bounce, Jhn Rdn and Dave P spin at the Roman Coliseum on Friday the 15th, Designer Drugs are back again on the 17th, Metropolis has Eli Escobar down the 20th, Making Time on the 21st with Azari & III, New Orleans Bounce party Bacon Bits on the 23rd and finally Safari on 3 floors with 3 different parties, not to mention all your favorite regular parties.  Busy month!

Fools Gold / Nightshifters / Acephale artist Kingdom aka Kkingdomm will be bringing the heavy bass to the Barbary tonight.  Kingdom has been on a tear ever since I first heard OMG Michelle’s You Don’t Know Michelle produced by Kingdom in late 2007 or early 2008 and his first mixtape, posted here in May of 2008.  February saw his debut single Mind Reader released by Fools Gold.  In January he had a feature remix on L-Vis 1990′s United Groove. Needless to say his career is only going to take off with those 2 releases coming in the first quarter of 2010.

In February, Kingdom joined fellow Fools Gold artists, Spank Rock, Ninjasonik, Theophilus London and more at the famed Fabric Nightclub (the best club I’ve ever been to) and released a promo mix. If you haven’t, download it below. It’s a dubstep / bassline / bass heavy mix featuring plently of Kingdom’s own production and more.
