RIP DJ AM

dj_am_palms RIP DJ AM

I’ve written and rewritten this post I don’t know how many times since Monday, wanting to post this before I posted anything else.

The picture above eventually came through twitpic that night.  AM was supposed to play at his residency at Rain in the Palms in Las Vegas Friday night.  At Dusk, a club he co-owned in Atlantic City, they closed for the night in honor of his memory.  AM had only recently spun at Dusk on Tuesday the 26th and the previous Saturday.  Sadly, I never had the chance to see him play.  Last time I was close to see him was last December at the Borgata.  Stretch, Jeff and Kid Capri played in one club while AM played at Mur Mur.  The line for Mur Mur was ridiculously long at 10PM.  Meanwhile the other club wasn’t nearly as packed until later.  The only other time I saw him was nearly 3 years ago to the day.  AM was booked to play at McFaddens.  After his set he came over to the, short lived, Social Club where Cosmo Baker and Catchdubs were playing.  Needless to say, he was one of the greatest DJ’s ever.  His skills likely surpassed and definitely impressed your favorite DJ.  Lets just let the skills speak for themselves.  After the jump there are hours of live mixes to download and listen to.
