kukubass Zakee Kuduro - Ku Ku Bass

Zakee has been killing it on the Philly party scene over the past two years mixing anything from Bmore breaks, to Electro hits and anything that will set the dance hall on fiya. These influences all mix and mash in his production which fuses his Philly block party sound with cutting edge electronic bleeps and bloops getting him production credits from Rye Rye, Theophilus London, MIA, Young Chris and a recording contract with Green Owl Records. Zakee gave us a taste of his new Ku Ku Bass EP which he first dropped at I Can Hass Bass in March and I have been buggin him about ever since. Finally he sent us the first track which he produced in Ghana featuring Anbuley on the vocals. The track is a whirlwind of African Rhythms, Philly block party bass hits, and just that all around craziness that holds the track together. Anbuley voice floats over the beat creating one hell of a dance floor banger. Catch Zakee tonight at Dutty Chutney at Fluid.

After the jump download Sane EBA and read the interview where Zakee was kind enough to answer some questions about the track and let us know what else we can expect from him.

Zakee man this track is slamin and went over super big at I Can Has Bass back in March. Thanks for finally hitting us up with it. How was it working down in Ghana as opposed to working out in West P?

I actually have family living in Accra, where my uncle holds office as a councilman. It was amazing how I received a shit load of embracement from locals and family that I haven’t seen since I was 9. I almost felt like a lost son who found his Father. Making music out there was amazing, for I had the privelage of working with family and had countless of sources for inspiration. West Philly has no type of inspiration right now. Think about it..all you see is Chinese Stores,Bodegas and air max boots..Ya dig. It was a complete change.

What was the music culuture like down their? Is there a lot of new music coming out? Whats the street sound?

The music culture is completely insane. There’s so many different types of genres and artists that you can feed off of and you can always stay with fresh music. The song formats, sounds and even drum patterns are completly different than Western music and those attributes are some of the factors that drew me in. As for new music coming out..there’s a lot,but you have to really dig to find the real Beasts. Everybody isn’t hot, just most of them…The street scene is grimmey like no other. Of course you see all of real elements of poor life, and dark culture but in some weird way there’s a beauty to it.

Green Owl has been kinda killing it recently with tracks from RadioClit and The So So Glows! When are we gonna see the full release of this ep?

You guys should be hearing the full EP this July

So whats next for Zakee Kuduro man? You going on a Dj tour or anything?

I’m pretty stoked right now because I’ll be returning to Ghana in a few weeks to tape my video, it’s going to be sick!!! As for a tour,my management is definetly making it pop for me. It’s looking like I’ll be doing some shows in the UK,West Africa and the US.

Aight man thanks so much for taking the time to hit us back, got any shout outs or any thing else you wanna expand upon.

I would like to give a shout out to my close friend and boss Ben Bronfman, my manager Sam Peter and all of my friends, music and non music related. All of you guys know who you are..Thanks for all of the support..

Zakee is so hott! I wanna marry him with his little eyes, dark beard and always seems to be extra fresh and fly…Uh..Let me stop. I really love this track because it speaks with so much power. I can tell that he’s not the average electronic producer making Baltimore songs and top 40 remixes he’s really repping not only West Philly but repping West Africa which makes me love him even more.
