tritone Tritone Closed by L&I

Above is the notice on the Tritone. L&I raided the venue Friday night (July 25th, 2008), turned on the lights, forced everyone to leave and shut the doors. The official closing is today as of 11:30 PM. I talked to Dave from the Tritone and says he will be working tirelessly to ensure the venue is closed for as little time as possible. One of the violations listed “fire & electrical code” is the result from a light out in the Exit sign. Hopefully, all of the violations are trivial and Tritone should be open again sooner than later. Dave also reported that other owners who have been raided have all suffered the exact same fate of being shut down. He also longed for the days when the inspections were far kinder to owners. They would perform the inspection and give the venue two weeks to correct them rather than raiding the club and shutting it down during peak hours. I’m curious with why this policy has changed and will try to follow up with L&I to find out why inspections are conducted in such a callous manner. If you have any contacts, or know anything about this please contact me or leave it in the comments.

Nice to know that L and I has time to jump on Tritione and border a house of some hippie kids in North Philly who dared excersize free speech, but they don’t have the time to check a property that I contacted them repeatedly about for 6 months.

This was a JOKE! They came in with cops wearing Bullet Proof vest as if they were hunting terrorists while people were drinking. They should be ashamed of themselves. Nutter and his goon squad are a JOKE!

Yeah, absolutely. From what I heard it sounded like they were looking for something, anything to shut it down. I don’t think its Nutter, just the standard Philly government politics he inherited. Nutter just appointed a new L&I czar whose mission is to work with business instead of against it. Lets hope so:
