The Geator with the Heater! The boss with the hot sauce! Philadelphia legend Jerry Blavat was recently profiled in Philadelphia Magazine. (Yeah, holy shit I am linking to them.) Jason Fagone spends a week with the Geator to see what makes the 67 year old still tick. From lox to daily exercise routine to mob ties, Sammy Davis Jr, Frankie Avalon and good italian wine and pasta and gravy. Blavat keeps going despite a recent stay in hospital for heart surgery, Geator keeps an incredibly busy schedule.
I learn that the Geator is not a “deejay.” He’s a “performer,” like his dear departed friend Sammy Davis Jr., who came up to the Geator when the Geator was just 14, dancing on Bob Horn’s Bandstand, and told him, “Hey, you’re like a white me.” I hear this story three times by the end of the night.
…Most importantly, I learn that “as long as there’s an audience out there, young or old, who wants to hear music as honest as it is, any time period, I’ll be around. Until the good guy upstairs says, okay, I need you up here with Sammy.”
Truly a Philadelphia legend playing The Music.

Jerry Blavat is a total jerk. He has been connected with every mob boss in the philly area. he tried to have his competiotion as a DJ killed. and yes a DJ, not a “performer” you little weasel rat tiny fraction of a man.

Wow, let it out. The article does mention the mob ties. Clearly he didn’t do a very good job since Dick Clark is still doing New Years Eve. Why so mad?
